Five Fun + Simple Wine Bottle DIY’s

DIY

After that last pour, how do you use the empty glass bottle that remains?

Find inspiration from some of our ideas and make something great out of nothing but an empty bottle. Check out these five simple and easy ways to reuse our Keel + Curley wine bottles!

Paint Bottles to Create a Simple Centerpiece

Transform these everyday bottles into elegant vases by coating the inside with glass enamel. Wash the bottle inside and out with warm soapy water and let dry. Pour a small amount of the paint surface conditioner, priming the glass for the enamel.

Swirl the conditioner around and pour out the excess. Stand the bottle upright and allow it to dry for an hour or so. Pour in the enamel and swirl it around the bottle to ensure the entire inside gets coated. Dry the bottle upside down for 48 hours or more, and make sure to periodically wipe the excess enamel from the rim of the bottle during the first hour.

Add Some Magic to Your Yard

Add a touch of magic to your backyard or garden! Allow the bottles some time to soak in warm soapy water for about an hour. Dry the bottles and remove their labels. Once the labels have been removed, dry the bottles and insert your solar-powered wine bottle fairy lights. You can find these on Amazon here. Add these to your garden for a fun nighttime look!

Keep the Bugs at Bay

Keep the bugs at bay with a wine bottle citronella candle! You will need:

  • 1/2-inch replacement torch wicks

  • 1/2-inch x 3/8-inch copper coupling with stop

  • 1/2-inch copper tube cap

  • 1/2-inch Teflon tape

  • 1-2 bags of marbles or small rocks

  • Funnel

  • Tiki Fuel

Place 1-2 bags of marbles or small rocks into the bottom of your wine bottle. These will help to weigh and stabilize your bottle and wick. Wrap the wider end of your coupling with Teflon tape so it will fit snugly into the mouth of the bottle.

Set the wrapped coupling into place on the bottle, but do not press it in just yet. Then, remove the wrapped coupling to slide the replacement wick through, leaving about 1/2″ of the wick sticking out of the top to light.

Place your funnel in the mouth of the bottle and slowly add fluid. Be sure to not completely fill the bottle so that when you place the wick in it will not overflow.

Add Stemmed Flowers to Create a Vase

Bring life to your home with these stemmed flower wine bottle vases! Simply remove the label from the bottle, thoroughly wash and dry the inside and outside of the bottle, and add a few stemmed flowers. Looking to add more color? Paint the outside of the bottles to match your homes color scheme before adding your flowers. A simple and elegant way to reuse your wine bottles.
